January 23: Van Tuyl

January 23: Van Tuyl

How cool is it to live in a community where you can ski to your meat?!? WE…LOVE…VAN…TUYL. What a beautiful experiment—a public space that merges water quality filtration, traditional ranching landscapes, environmental resilience, regenerative grazing, and groomed ski trails so we can glide across winter fields under the gaze of cows, goats, and Orion. We each noticed something off in our communities this week. Maybe it is the divisive tension of politics, maybe it is post-Holiday blues (maybe it is us!), but we each struggled with instability in our professional/personal worlds.  Skiing, with a good friend, is such a wonderful antidote to such inner and outer tension. So tonight, our Grand Traverse training allowed us to vent, inspired us to respond rather than react to the challenges, and to return renewed. Gratitude to the Van Tuyl vision; gratitude to Parker Pastures; gratitude to the city of Gunnison and its workers, gratitude to good friends; gratitude to skiing; gratitude to snow; gratitude to Orion in the cold January night sky
