Welcome to Choice Pass

What is Choice Pass?

Choice Pass is a triangle of support and celebration! 6th-12th graders (public or online/home schooled) commit to being healthy, substance free, and good citizens of the community. Secondly, parents commit to having open, honest conversations and providing safe, substance free environments for their kids to hang out with friends. Parents also must attend one parent education dinner to learn from a variety of topics affecting teens and how to better engage in difficult conversations with their adolescent. The third piece of the triangle is community. GCSAPP (Gunnison County Substance Abuse Prevent Project)- the parent umbrella of Choice Pass- supports youth and families with monthly parent education dinners November-May. What’s more is over 60 businesses in the Gunnison Valley and Lake City celebrate teens’ commitment by offering discounts!

In addition to the perks, Choice Pass partners with professionals throughout the Gunnison Valley to offer amazing programs at discounted prices. Programs include: avalanche safety course, backcountry skiing, outdoor youth leadership, make up tutorials, and more! Many of the programs are also available for high school credit! It’s a community high five for healthy choices!

Each fall is an opportunity for families to discuss if the Choice Pass commitment continues to be a fit. If so, BOTH youth and parent/guardian MUST be attend at a Sign-up Night TOGETHER to be eligible for 2025-26. (Annual re-enrollment is required to demonstrate a continued dedication to the program and to learn about new changes to the program).

Families can attend at any location. If youth and parent/guardian do not BOTH attend a sign-up night, the youth is not eligible for 2025-26.

Before attending sign-up night, please complete the following digital paperwork.

  1. Teen Survey (click here)- This survey is for YOUTH. Parents: please do not take it as if you are your kid(s); also give your youth space to answer honestly. At the end of the teen survey, youth need to hand the device to their parent/guardian to then complete the waiver/registration. The waiver is only linked to the teen survey. Please complete the teen survey only once per youth. Each youth signing up for the program needs to complete the survey.

  2. Waiver (access is only granted at the end of the teen survey. This means that youth need to hand their device to their adult once they submit their survey.)

  3. Parent Survey (click link here). All parents/guardians need to complete this survey- not just one (if there are multiple in the household).
